MetroBoston Clinical Partners is a well-established and experienced clinical research center in the greater Boston area. Under the leadership of qualified physicians and medical professionals, we coordinate a range of clinical research trials in Dermatology and Internal Medicine. Our team is experienced and uses a patient-centered approach.
Our clinical research center in Boston – Massachusetts helps improve patient outcomes by conducting ethical and cutting-edge research by evaluating the latest novel treatments and medications available to patients.
We have an exceptional staff. Our investigators, Dr. Amster and Dr. Black have conducted clinical trials for over twenty and ten years respectively. Our Study Coordinator, Stella Schandorf, has been involved in clinical research for over ten years.
We have successfully conducted dozens of trials in Dermatology and Internal Medicine. Our studies have included vitiligo, alopecia, acne, psoriasis, eczema, c. diff, and many other dermatological and medical conditions.
MetroBoston is a well-known and well-respected clinical research center. We have strong relationships with study sponsors including Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Janssen, and Innovaderm as well as many others.

Meet Our Team
Meet our team of highly experienced professionals at MetroBoston Clinical Research Center in Boston – Massachusetts has over thirty years of combined research experience.
Principal Investigator
Mark Amster, MD, MBA conducts clinical trials at MetroBoston Clinical Research Center in Boston – Massachusetts with over 20 years of research experience. In addition, he is currently a practicing Dermatologist and President & CEO of Newton Brighton Dermatology Associates. He has been involved with several biotech startups. He graduated from SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, New York. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Boston VA Medical Center, Boston University, and Tufts. He completed his Dermatology residency in Buffalo, New York, and is Board Certified in Dermatology and Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.
Principal Investigator
Richard Black MD, conducts clinical trials at MetroBoston Clinical Partners with over 10 years of research experience. He also has an active internal medicine practice for over 30 years. He has administrative experience having been a medical advisor to case management at Blue Cross of Massachusetts, Chief of Medicine at Braintree Medical Associates, President of the medical staff at Quincy Medical Center, and member of the Board of Trustees at Quincy Medical Center.
He graduated summa cum laude from Boston University and went on to Boston University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Boston VA Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Amster and Dr. Black founded MetroBoston Clinical Partners in 2015.
Stella Schandorf
LEAD STUDY COORDINATOR
Our clinical research coordinator Stella Schandorf oversees every aspect of the clinical trial. She is a skilled Study Coordinator with over 10 years of research experience. Stella Scandorf is a certified MA and received her training at Everest Institute Brighton.
Spencer Snowman
Clinical Research Coordinator
Spencer Snowman is a Clinical Research Coordinator at Metro Boston Clinical Partners, supporting clinical trials through patient recruitment, regulatory coordination, data management, and laboratory processing. He also serves as a Medical Assistant alongside Dr. Mark Amster in a high-volume dermatology practice.
He earned his B.S. in Neuroscience with a Minor in Public Health from Tulane University, where he served as an EMT and Teaching Assistant in anatomical sciences. His work and academic training reflect a strong interest in clinical and translational research, as well as a commitment to pursuing a career in nursing.
Grace Zhang
Research Assistant
Grace Zhang works directly with research participants, reviews patient data, and coordinates multiple clinical trials to ensure accuracy and protocol compliance. Passionate about expanding access to care, she is dedicated to helping provide treatment options through clinical research while guiding patients through each step of the study process. Grace studied biology and psychology at Tufts University. Previously, she worked as a dermatology medical assistant, gaining hands-on patient care experience and developing an understanding of skin conditions and treatments.
Isabella Tabora
Research Assistant
Isabella Tabora supports the team by maintaining accurate study documentation, coordinating subject visits, and assisting with regulatory binders. She is devoted to patient-centered research and improving health outcomes through rigorous, ethical science. She brings experience from previous work as a clinical research assistant on cardiovascular trials. Isabella is currently pursuing a dual degree in Biology and Community Health at Tufts University.
Eric He
Research Assistant
Eric He helps prepare all the necessary paperwork for obtaining informed consent from study participants and manages visits of the study subject, from recruitment to in-clinic visits to documentation. He has experience as a medical assistant in dermatology assisting in medical procedures such as biopsies, cancer removals, and cyst extractions. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Johns Hopkins University and minored in Computer Science.
Zachary Nelson
Research Assistant
Zachary Nelson received a Bachelor’s degree from Boston University in Biology with a specialization in Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics,W and a minor in Psychology. He is certified with GCP and IATA. Zach has experience as a dermatology medical assistant in both front and back office tasks, and has about 4 years experience in sponsor-led investigational product clinical trials involving pain management, anesthesiology, perioperative medicine, dermatology, rheumatology, and hematology. He is proficient in phlebotomy, specimen collection/shipping, and regulatory knowledge.
